Fist of Steel

Fist of Steel came from the steel worlds. He does not speak of which ship. He does not speak of the fall. These things are past. A Kur does not dwell on the past. He survives it.

He earned his name in the northern wastes. There was a man, a warrior of Torvaldsland, who wore armor of iron rings. This man thought himself strong. He thought his iron would protect him. Fist of Steel tore through the iron with his claws. He tore through what was beneath it as well. The men who saw this gave him the name. He kept it.

Among Kurii, rank is not given freely. It is taken through blood and held through strength. Fist of Steel holds the rank of Eye. This means he commands a Hand. Six Kurii answer to him. They obey because he has proven himself worthy of obedience. They obey because those who did not obey are dead.

He is not the largest Kur. He is not the fastest. But he thinks. This is what makes an Eye. The word Blood, in the tongue of Kurii, means thinker. One who commands. Fist of Steel thinks before he strikes. When he strikes, he does not miss.
He has learned to work with men when it serves him. This does not mean he trusts them. A Kur trusts his Hand. He trusts his claws. He trusts little else. Men are useful. Men are also food. Fist of Steel remembers this, even when the men forget.
His Hand is called the Steel Fist. They are his claws, extended. Where he points, they strike. This is the way of the Kurii. This is the way it has always been.

He has held his Hand for many seasons. He has not lost a single Kur under his command to defeat. Some have died, yes. But not in defeat. There is a difference. A Kur may die in victory. This is acceptable. A Kur does not die running. Not in his Hand.
