She was a restless child from the start. The kind who climbed things that weren't meant to be climbed and asked questions that didn't have tidy answers. Her red curls became something of a local landmark — you always knew where Runa was, or at least where she'd recently been from either someone sceaming her name in the distance or laughter heard instead..

When she was old enough, she left.

Not out of unhappiness, but out of hunger. The world beyond the familiar roads had been calling to her for years, whispering through travelers' stories and the smell of rain coming from somewhere she'd never been. She packed light and went far, moving through places that sharpened her in ways home never could have — learning how to read strangers, how to sleep in discomfort, how to find beauty in being entirely lost.

Now she has returned.

Her parent's farm sits at the edge of the land she grew up knowing, and it was the first place she turned when the road finally curved back. It smelled like soil and old wood and something permanently warm — the kind of smell that doesn't change no matter how many years pass.

She's back, but she isn't quite the same Runa who left. The curls aren\t the same color. The restlessness beneath the surface — still there. But there's a steadiness in her eyes now that wasn't there before, the particular calm of someone who has seen enough of the world to stop being afraid of it.
