Jalilah

She was named Jalilah—al-Jalila in the tongue of the Arabs, a name that means magnificent—and magnificent indeed she was. Though the world would have her seen as merely property, she carried within her a hidden pride. From a house of high blood she was taken, and in cruel fashion cast down to a life of shadows.
