Malach Callius Gates

~::Son to Vixen Gates- SpiritWeaver::~

Who would have thought, when I first dipped my quill into ink and optimism in Helenos, that fate, with its notoriously dramatic flair, would twist itself into such elegant calligraphy?

I began as a young and overly earnest Scribe in Helenos, where the ink stains were plentiful, the parchment never quite flat, and the expectations gloriously high. There, under the formidable and ever-gracious guidance of Lady Aquilah Johari, I learned that true scribal mastery lies not only in beautiful penmanship, but in listening carefully, recording faithfully, and never, under any circumstances, spilling ink on a treaty. (A lesson learned only once.)

When my mentor’s path led her to the City of Esalinus, I followed, of course. Esalinus was a city that breathed history. Its archives whispered in a dozen dialects, and its records seemed to multiply overnight when no one was looking. There, I honed not only my craft but my patience. I learned to decipher handwriting that defied both grammar and reason. I negotiated between councils who believed that commas were optional and clarity was negotiable. I survived, which in itself should qualify as a credential.

And now... Venna.

Venna, with its bustling courts, ambitious merchants, and citizens who understand that a well-kept record is the backbone of civilization. Here, I serve as High Scribe, entrusted with preserving the city’s voice, shaping its chronicles, and ensuring that no decree wanders into ambiguity on my watch.

The journey from apprentice to Head Scribe has been paved with parchment cuts, midnight revisions, and more drafts than any respectable windstorm could justify. Yet each step has refined not only my hand but my judgment. I have come to understand that leadership, like writing, requires balance: firmness without rigidity, elegance without excess, and humor enough to survive council meetings that could otherwise test the patience of saints.

So here I stand, once the young Scribe of Helenos, now High Scribe of Venna. A servant of words, a guardian of records, and living proof that with enough dedication, careful mentorship, and perhaps a stubborn refusal to misplace important documents, fate can indeed be persuaded to write a rather satisfying chapter.

And should history judge my tenure kindly, I will consider my work well done, provided, of course, that history spells my name correctly.
