At a young age, Steven witnessed his folks battling dark forces and suffered many losses, it made him bitter towards other races. While humans generally value virtue, honor and courage, he is only motivated by wealth. He usually act with more cruelty than he means to, just to prove himself worthy to other races, which confuse many that come close to him as he is a good guy at heart, just not very bright.
