The herlit is the large broad-winged Gorean eagle of the Barrens; it has a wingspan of seven to eight feet and usually stands about four feet high. It is carnivorous, and has yellow feathers tipped with black. The herlit is alsocalled "Sun-Striker" or "out-of-the-sun-it-strikes", from its habit of striking with the sun above and behind it. It has fifteen tail feathers, measuring some fourteen to fifteen inches in length, which are highly prized by red savage
