Let this be stated with clarity: I am Northern by birthright, lineage, & blood.
While I reside in the South, I choose to present myself in Southern attire.
When I stand among my true Northern kin, I wear the garb of a Northern Free Woman — without apology, without debate.
You will receive no further explanation, and certainly no indulgence.
I am not here to satisfy your expectations or conform to your ignorance.
I embody both North & South, & I will reflect that dual heritage as I deem appropriate — not as you presume to dictate.
I am of the bloodline of Leif Skovgard of the House of Kailiauk,
& you would be wise to remember precisely what that means before attempting to question or test me.
MY STORY:
*******************
Northern-born Freewoman, Raevyn Skovgard is the daughter of Lenora Hassan — her true mother — and the late Haagradr Skovgard. She was later adopted by Physician Haakan Rhaashid of Civitatis Ar, but her blood & origin belong to the North. Her life is a tapestry woven with love, loss, & the relentless hand of fate.
Lenora’s story began when she traveled North to visit her sister, companioned to a Chieftain. She had not come seeking companionship — but destiny rarely asks permission. In that cold village of timber & storm-tides, Lenora met Haagradr Skovgard, a Northman whose presence struck her like winter lightning. He courted her for twenty-five hands, earning the blessing of the Chieftain to companion the sister of his own companion.
They lived many years together in the North, bound by fierce devotion. In time, Lenora discovered she carried his child. A daughter was born — Raevyn — and the infant thrived amid the warmth of kin & the strength of the northern hearth.
But joy in the North is fragile.
Haagradr joined other men hunting upon Thassa. Dawn after dawn passed with no return. At last, the serpent brought home a tale — a monstrous sea-serpent had risen from the deep, dragging Haagradr into black waters. No body. No farewell. Only the cold truth of loss.
Crushed by grief, Lenora returned to Ar with her baby daughter. Time pushed her forward, though her heart remained fractured. She eventually companioned Physician Haakan Rhaashid, a man who loved her with a new gentleness. He vowed to raise Raevyn as his own — but insisted she keep her father’s name, Skovgard, so Haagradr would not be erased.
Raevyn grew as a Southern woman, educated by the finest tutors, modest & chaste as her mother had been taught. She blossomed into a sought-after lady and eventually companioned a Warrior. Together they had two daughters — Lucretzia & Tatiza — and for a time, Raevyn believed peace had finally chosen her.
But tragedy, ever loyal, returned.
Her companion slipped, struck his head, & died instantly. One breath he lived. The next he was gone. Widowhood stole her joy a second time.
Yet fate held one more secret.
Unknown to Lenora or Raevyn, Haagradr had fathered another child — Leif Skovgard — an elder son, Draco, shared their father’s blood. Draco later found Raevyn in Glorious Ar, unraveling truths buried by time. (All of this has been fully role-played.)
And with that revelation, the North called her home.
Raevyn answered.
Bif & Baf carried her through the cold wilds, back toward family she never knew she had, back toward blood, back toward truth.
Now she wanders the North once more…
a daughter of storm & sorrow, carrying the ache of the past & the unending search for the Home her heart remembers, even when she cannot.
