David Ravenwood

Dr. David Ravenwood is a Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Cambridge. Under pressure from his line-managers to secure funding ahead of a potential promotion, David was at a loss... Until he discovered, hidden in the pages of the university library's first-edition of Purchas His Pilgrims - an ancient map purporting to show the route to Eldorado, the legendary lost city of gold, that is reputed to lie somewhere in the unexplored regions of the Amazon river-basin.

After surreptitiously secreting the map in his coat pocket, David has turned to his friend Harun al Khatabi, a wealthy business magnate and friend from his undergraduate days, in order to secure funding for the expedition. Harun insisted on accompanying him, and has brought his extraordinarily beautiful Secretary along with him. All three have sailed across the Atlantic to begin their Great Adventure....
