Surrounded by a vast and spirited family, where she learned to be resilient, sharing in the rough-and-tumble upbringing alongside her brothers and absorbing the wisdom of the women in her family, who prepared for the day they would each keep a hall or home of their own, standing shoulder to shoulder with their chosen companions.

Unlike the demure maidens sung of in old sagas, she was a creature of fierce curiosity and restless wanderlust, her femininity both a beacon and a hazard. This untamable spirit drew the gaze of many, not always benign; she found herself too often the target of unwanted attention, which cast long, dark shadows over her early years. The dangers she faced came not just from men, but women too, and ultimately forced her to flee.
