I don't OOCly tailor my backstory or get OOC agreement to pretend like my character has earned something when that's not the case. Everything my character's got is because it was earned or taken by force from people who proved incapable of taking it back.

I am what you can call a "hardcore" roleplayer. The most OOC agreement I'll ever seek is asking if you want to participate at all, and have your character make their choices in the moment itself.

I have nothing but utter contempt for people who do it the opposite way and custom craft elaborate relationships set in stone out of thin air. The people who do that are story killers. They sell a pretty sounding pitch in someone's IMs, asking them to kill all their ongoing storylines to contrive something else. Which will be sub-standard in reality.

People do that because they have no idea how to achieve any results or keep results in RP. They skip past all the conflict, all the struggle, all the interesting parts. Then they cling desperately to a false promise that's shown to be untrue in every interaction they have, burning every friendship they must burn along the way in the stupid hope that shit will somehow turn to gold.

Unlike them, I have no fear of failure. I only fear my time being wasted by people who refuse to roleplay it out in a roleplay sim.
